Vehicle stops uncover weapons, drugs

A pair of vehicle stops conducted by police on Saturday led to the discovery of weapons and drugs in each case.

At 2:29 p.m., patrol officers performed a vehicle stop in the 100 block of River Street East. The 26-year-old male driver of the vehicle was known to police and had outstanding warrants, prompting his arrest.

Further investigation revealed that the man was in possession of drugs and weapons. He is now facing further Criminal Code charges and will attend court on Monday.

At 11:12 p.m., police stopped a vehicle in the 1600 block of 13th Street West. An investigation determined that its occupants were in possession of weapons and drugs.

A 28-year-old male and a 31-year-old male are now facing several weapon and drug-related offences.
