Slips and falls accompany spring melt

Parkland Ambulance Paramedics had a busy weekend, with their 57 calls including eight for slips and falls.

As a result, paramedics are reminding people to slow down and walk with care. Other tips include wearing good footwear when walking indoors or outdoors and, if using a walking assist such as a cane or walker, to be sure to use it all the time.

Among the major incidents:

• At 10:50 p.m. on Friday, paramedics responded to a snowmobile incident in the Candle Lake area. Paramedics cared for a 25-year-old male with injuries who was taken to Victoria Hospital, where he is currently in good and stable condition.

• At 8:51 a.m. on Saturday, paramedics responded to an assault in the 600 block of 28th Street East. Paramedics cared for a 25-year-old male with minor injuries, who was taken to hospital.

• At 10:52 p.m. on Saturday, paramedics responded to a motor vehicle collision 20 km west of the city on Highway 302. Paramedics cared for a 42-year-old male with minor injuries, who was taken to hospital.

• At 1:16 p.m. on Saturday, paramedics responded to a motor vehicle collision in the 800 block of 15th Street East. Paramedics cared for a 71-year-old male with minor injuries, who was taken to hospital.
