Emergency personnel are clear from the scene and traffic is back to normal.   2014-02-13 9:04 am   Multiple vehicles were involved in collisions last night on Highway #1 between Belle Plain and Pense. The initial six vehicle collision occurred when a car rear-ended a semi-tractor trailer unit and EMS was dispatched. The responding EMS vehicle was then struck by an SUV at the initial collision site and a chain reaction occurred that included an additional two vehicles. All injuries reported were non life-threatening and minor in nature.   Several other minor vehicle collisions and vehicles entering the ditch were also reported in the vicinity of the initial collision. Injuries were minor.   Weather was a contributing factor for the collisions as there was reduced visibility and drifting snow on the highway.   2014-02-13 9:40 a.m.   RCMP from White Butte are currently on scene of yesterday's motor vehicle collision on the #1 Highway Eastbound just before the Pense access road.  Eastbound traffic on the #1 is down to one lane at that location as Emergency responders assist in removing vehicles several large vehicles (ambulance, semi, 3 cars) from the ditch .  Westbound travel is not affected.   It is expected that this will be in place for the next several hours.    RCMP are requesting that motorists please slow down when in that general area to allow personnel to conduct operations in a safe manner.
