A man who had outstanding warrants is facing multiple charges after attempting to flee from police in his car and then on foot.

On Saturday at approximately 3:35 p.m., patrol officers observed a vehicle in the 600 block of Sixth Avenue East being operated by a person police knew to have outstanding warrants.

In an effort to evade police, the vehicle sped away. After a very short vehicle pursuit, the operator came to a stop and fled on foot. The subsequent short foot chase ended when police successfully apprehended the suspect.

Jade Napope, 28, was arrested on his outstanding warrants for assault, possession of marijuana, breach of probation, breach of undertaking and failure to appear.

Napope is also charged with failing to stop for police, possession of marijuana and breach of a recognizance.
