By creating a Facebook page residents will be directly linked with city hall to receive the latest news pertinent to their daily lives, city communications manager Kiley Bear wrote in a release.
‚ÄúRather than waiting for them to come to us for the information we‚Äôll use Facebook to reach out to them,‚ÄĚ she said. ‚ÄúWe also expect that Facebook will allow the city to increase its level of responsiveness and provide timely answers to questions that concern residents.‚ÄĚ
Accompanying the city’s new website and Facebook page are a handful of mobile features for smart phones as well as an email subscription feature that allows people to receive emails on specific items that interest them.
‚ÄúIt‚Äôs our hope that we‚Äôve created a page that more inviting and that will draw people in and entice them to search out information they may not have originally visited the page for,‚ÄĚ Bear said.
This improvement in communication will be followed by more technological advances in the future, Bear concluded.
The City of Prince Albert’s official website was last updated in 2008 and is located online at www.citypa.ca.
The city‚Äôs official Facebook page is fittingly called ‚ÄúCity of Prince Albert.‚ÄĚ
