Medical issues force adjournment in theft case

A case regarding the alleged theft of thousands of dollars from KidsSport has been adjourned after the accused failed to appear in court to due to medical issues.

The accused, who has been diagnosed with incurable cancer, had travelled to Saskatoon to obtain cancer treatment resulting in his absence from provincial court on Monday. A representative instead spoke on his behalf.

The case has been adjourned to Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 1:30 p.m.

Marvin Moses Sanderson is charged with theft over $5,000 and failing to comply with an appearance notice or promise to appear.

The accused is unrelated to the Marvin C. Sanderson who served as co-ordinator of the 2013 First Nation Summer Games and currently works as community service director for Muskoday First Nation.
