With Canada Post phasing out home delivery over the next five years, Prince Albert is poised to receive a lot more community mailbox sites in the near future.
Plans are still in the earliest of stages, but manager of capital projects Wes Hicks notes in correspondence with council that there are no real concerns.
‚ÄúThey always pick the flankage (side of lots) at the end of a street, never in front of someone‚Äôs home,‚ÄĚ he wrote. ‚ÄúThey will most likely place a box at the end of each block facing the avenues, not the streets.‚ÄĚ
All neighbourhoods built since 1984 have had community mailbox sites instead of home delivery, and there has never been a problem with junk mail left beside the boxes.
