Paramedics kept busy with weekend accidents, assaults

Icy road conditions saw Parkland ambulance paramedics respond to a multitude of motor vehicle collisions during the weekend.

Paramedics responded to 77 incidents in total.

Around 8 a.m. Saturday, paramedics responded to a collision on Highway three near Crutwell. Paramedics cared for a 40-year-old female and transported her to hospital for further care.

A second collision occurred Saturday at 6:40 p.m. at the Sturgeon Lake Reserve. Paramedics treated a 35-year-old female who was taken to hospital in good condition.

At 11:51 a.m. Sunday, paramedics resonded to a collision on Highway Two South in front of Wholesale Foods. A 14-year-old male, 24-year-old male, and 60-year-old male were reported to have been injured and taken to hospital in good condition.

Another collision occurred at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at 6th Avenue West and 13th Street West. Two males aged 18 and 19 were transported to hospital in good condition.

The weekend saw several assaults as well.

At 12:28 a.m. Saturday, paramedics responded to an assault in the 1300 block of 2nd Avenue West. A 21-year-old male was treated for injuries and transported to hospital.

Paramedics responded to reports of an assault in Birch Hills early Saturday morning and treated a 45-year-old female for minor injuries before transporting her to hospital for further care.

At 8 a.m. Saturday morning paramedics treated an 18-year-old female with minor injuries following report of an assault on the 1800 block of 16th Street West. The female was transported to hospital in good condition.

Just after 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Parkland Ambulance Paramedics responded to an assault in the 600 block of 5th Street East. Paramedics cared for a 30-year-old male with injuries who was taken by ambulance to hospital in good condition.

At 1:00 a.m. Sunday, Parkland Ambulance Paramedics responded to an assault in the 1700 block of 12th Avenue West. Paramedics cared for a 61-year-old female with injuries who was taken by ambulance to hospital in good condition.
