The demolition of Suzy Cue's on 15th Street East has begun.

Originally slated to be taken down last week, the demolition was postponed until Monday.

Crews began the demolition of the former billiards hall, lounge and liquor store around 8 a.m Monday and should be completed by the end of the day on Tuesday.

A portion of 15th St. is blocked off to allow for the demolition and traffic is being rerouted around the area.

The downtown central transfer station will be partially closed during the two days in order to accommodate the demolition. The all day express will not be able to pick up at its regular location during this time, but will pick up within the transfer station limits.

People are asked to stay away from the demolition site as much as possible to avoid any falling debris.

The demolition of the building was approved by city council in Oct.

The property has been purchased by Venice House owner Tony Yannacoulias and will be used as a parking lot for the neighbouring restaurant.
