Fire prevention officer Quentin Rowland said the fire was a complete accident.
Both Rowland and Dale Helm of Points West Sales said a vending machine that was on top of the extension cord caused the fire.
Investigators found sections of the cord and judging by the burn patterns could tell the fire started at the cord, said Rowland.
Helm said the company would move its sales operations directly across Second Avenue West to the east side of the street some time next week, but was still looking for a larger building for mechanical work.
