When the Olympic Flame arrives in Prince Albert in just four weeks, it will be carried by hometown boy and accomplished athlete Blair Morgan.

As the community torchbearer, Morgan will light the celebration cauldron in Prince Albert on Jan. 11 as part of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay.

Morgan, 34, is one of the world’s most celebrated and recognized professional Snocross and Motocross racers.  Blair began racing in his early teens and his professional Snocross career legacy includes a world record five X-Games Gold Medals and multiple repeat Snocross World Championships. His Motocross career is just as amazing with, among other accomplishments, three National Motocross Champion titles.

Morgan suffered a career-ending accident at the Montreal Supercross in 2008, but he has continued to tirelessly support community and charity activities and is a heroic figure in the eyes of his community.

I am delighted to see Blair represent Prince Albert in the Olympic torch run. He is Prince Albert's best kept secret. There is no one more deserving of this honour than Blair.

2nd Avenue W should be renaimed Blair Morgan Way. Why? Because it is the main WAY through Prince Albert, the one everybody travels on, and because it is the FASTEST WAY through the city. He is Prince Albert's best kept secret!!! I can't wait to see Blair carry the Torch. Congrats Blair!

I would support changing 2nd Ave to Blair Morgan Way. Absolutely! I believe it would be a good political move for the city and the least the city could do to honour this accomplished athlete. How does one initiate a petition like this?

My 10 year old son and I were at the Montreal Supercross in 2008, both unconditional fans on Blair. We were obviously devastated ... That race and what goes through our minds when we sit on our bikes will never be the same...Prince Albert can be very proud to count a man like this in it's ranks.

Congrats to Blair! I watched you and and my son race together back in Saskatchewan during your early years and you clearly are the best choice to carry the torch and represent the true meaning of excellence and competitive spirit for Prince Albert. I wish you all the best in your future endevers and can't wait to hear more of your accomplishments in the future!

Great to see Blair carrying the torch. He really deserves it. For motocross not being in the olympics, he is one of the best from the sport to represent all of the canadian motocrossers. Congrats Blair, you've inspired many.
