MONTPELIER, Vt. - Five years after Carmen Tarleton, of Vermont, was maimed by her ex-husband, she hopes to help others by telling her story. She has written a book that is expected to be released in March.

In "Overcome: Burned, Blinded and Blessed," Tarleton shares the ordeal with readers and reflects on what she has gained.

Blinded in one eye with only partial vision in the other, she talked out the book and recorded and hired a publishing company to write everything down.

She covers how she dealt with being blind and disfigured, her pain, countless surgeries and the help she's received from her community, family and friends.

She also describes how she faced in court the man who disfigured her and how she came to forgive him so she could get on with her own life.
