TORONTO - When Mads Mikkelsen played Bond villain Le Chiffre in 2006's "Casino Royale," his character met an untimely demise.

But the Danish actor jokes that if Le Chiffre could somehow be brought back to life and paired with Javier Bardem's malevolent Raoul Silva from the latest Bond instalment "Skyfall, they might be able to take 007 down for good.

"I think the two of us together might be able to finally get him," Mikkelsen said Monday while promoting his new movie "A Royal Affair."

"We could do something about that Bond character once and for all."

Mikkelsen has been in Toronto for the last few months shooting the upcoming TV series "Hannibal," based on the famed "Silence of the Lambs" character. His son is attending school here and the actor is familiarizing himself with the city (he says he couldn't get tickets for Sunday's Grey Cup and ended up watching it on TV).

One of Denmark's biggest heart-throbs, Mikkelsen says he's also found time to see "Skyfall" — and loved it.

"I thought it was brilliant," he said, adding that it would be "fun" to somehow return to the Bond franchise.

"A Royal Affair" — a sweeping period drama — is set to open Dec. 14 in Toronto and Vancouver. It's Denmark's entry in the foreign-language Oscar race.
