SHANGHAI - A Canadian film about a young girl's crush has won a prize at the Shanghai International Film Festival.

"For the Love of God" earned a jury award after being the only Canadian film in the running.

The francophone movie, directed by Micheline Lanctôt, centres on a lonely 12-year-old Quebec girl who becomes infatuated with a priest in 1959.

The Iranian drama "Bear" won the Golden Goblet Award for best film.

The jury was chaired by French director Jean-Jacques Annaud ("Seven Years in Tibet," "Enemy at the Gates").

The Shanghai International Film Festival wrapped Sunday. It is seen as an essential gateway to the Asian market.
