A new program at Victoria Hospital hopes to bring holiday cheer to patients remaining in hospital over the season.

Well Wishes to a Patient has people send emails to loved ones. The confidential messages are printed off, put in a sealed envelope and delivered by volunteer services. Sonya Jahn, director of volunteer services for the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region (PAPHR), said the year-round project was launched Wednesday for a specific reason.

“We wanted to get it started for the holiday season because there are many patients that are in the hospital, that may not have families that can come and visit them, and, you know, they may live in other cities or other provinces … This is a wonderful opportunity for them to share some really positive sentiments, ” she said.
