Lorne Green (pictured) is the advertising director for the RiverXingNorth Prince Albert Model Railroaders. He has emphasized that the group’s upcoming Model Train and Hobby show is not just open to model railroaders.
“The model train and hobby show is what we call it ... but the primary focus that we want to get across to people is that it’s a hobby show. And we have all kinds of hobbies that come,” advertising director Lorne Green said. “Any hobby that wants to come to the show is welcome.”
In the past, Green said, exhibitors have included everything from an Elvis memorabilia club to quilters to a model car club, among others. Currently, there are about 15 exhibitors registered for the 2013 show.
“Every year, we get a few more,” Green said. “It’s a place where they can showcase their club and maybe get a couple more members ... This year, we’re allowing people to sell tickets in their own display for their own club.”
A few thousand people attend the event each year, with that number always increasing as well, according to Green.
“It’s really the only event that we put on locally here,” he said. “We have a club up in the top of the octagon building, where we have two big displays of HO and N scale trains.”
The third annual event will be taking place May 4-5 at the Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., respectively.
The cost for tickets is $10 for families, $5 for adults, $2 for students and free for pre-school children who are accompanied by an adult. Registration for exhibitors ends April 21. To register, visit: firstname.lastname@example.org or call Green at 306-922-3222.
