Sixth arrest made in murder, attempted murder

A sixth suspect was arrested Wednesday in Hobbema, Alta., on charges related to a murder and attempted murder that took place in Prince Albert last fall.

The Hobbema RCMP arrested 20-year Michael Trevor Andrew Ward on a Canada-wide warrant for the first degree murder of 18-year-old Dakota Nayneecassum and the attempted murder of a 21-year-old male in September 2012.

The other five subjects arrested and charged in connection to the case include Tasia Natewayes and Blake David Norman, both from Saskatchewan, and Kyle Alexander Goodrich, Leo Raine and a 16-year-old youth, all from Alberta.

All have appeared in court and remain in custody pending their next court appearances. The preliminary hearing for Goodrich is taking place from Monday to Wednesday this week at Prince Albert Provincial Court.

Ward is the sixth person to be arrested in connection with the matter and is scheduled to appear in provincial court on Tuesday, Jan. 22.
