Snowmobiles are not allowed to operate within city limits, city bylaw is reminding the public.

Although there used to be a snow route in the city, it’s long gone, city bylaw manager Suzanne Stubbs noted.

“We have quite a few calls of people riding their machines in their back alley, or riding it out from their residence,” she said.

“Snowmobiles are not allowed anywhere in the city limits.”

City limits include not only the city’s core, but also stretches to the pulp mill site and Little Red River Park.

What about in the area in the east part along the river in the designated off leash area? There is a path down there that says it has been groomed by the Prince Albert Snow Runners. I was curious about that. THere are always a number of snow mobiles down there and for the most part they are very courteous when they see someone walking. I do worry that sometimes one will come flying over a hill and hit me or a dog, but so far I appreciate that they do pack down trails for us walkers.
