Those shovelling snow onto city land, such as roadways, could face a $150 fine, city bylaw is cautioning.

“We still have people shovelling their snow onto city streets when they’re shovelling their walks,” city bylaw manager Suzanne Stubbs said. “You’re not allowed to put your snow on city property.

“The only people who are allowed to put snow on the street is the downtown core -- Central Avenue -- because they don’t really have a place to put their snow.”

This should go both ways.I never throw snow on the street from my walks, but after finishing my walks outside the yard so it is safe for postal carriers, the city has no problem with plowing their snow from the streets back onto the walks.
