Shoppers at Ambrose Grocery at Neis Beach will be able to make donations throughout December to help the Prince Albert SPCA finance a new animal shelter.

Owners Treena and Rob McAlpine and their staff will collect pledges and donations on behalf of the SPCA’s New Leash on Life building campaign, which has financed construction of the Paw Print Inn boarding kennel and an off-leash dog park on North Industrial Drive.

The campaign is currently trying to raise between $600,000 and $1.2 million to finance a new animal shelter to replace the existing one near the P.A. Exhibition Centre. The new shelter will be able to accommodate twice as many stray dogs and cats.

Pledge sheets and a donation bin are available near the checkout counter at Ambrose. Customers who make donations of $10 or more receive a tax receipt from the PASPCA.
