Miller received 443 votes, or 83 per cent of the ballots cast.

Her opponent, Jim Tsannie, Sr. trailed far behind with only 88 votes, or 17 per cent.

“I feel very honoured that Ward 1 has put me to the job again,” Miller said. “And I will make sure to represent them well at city council.”

Miller, a food services worker at Prince Albert Parkland Health Region, said her win indicated that voters felt she was doing her job on council.

The incumbent’s resounding victory gives her a mandate to tackle issues she mentioned during the campaign, such as a bylaw change to address substandard housing in her ward.

“I’m very hopeful that the new council will address the issues,” Miller said.

Tsannie, an administrative assistant at the Prince Albert Grand Council Forestry Department, declined comment.
