Following the first snowfall of the season, the City of Prince Albert is reminding residents of the three major aspects of its snow removal policy:

1) Crews will remove snow from streets based on priority. Emergency streets are the first concern, school and bus routes come second, the downtown area is third and residential areas are last. Maps of these routes are available at www.citypa.ca

2) Parking bans will be declared after major snowfalls on high-priority emergency routes and major roadways. The restrictions will affect routes such as Second Avenue West, 15th Street, Fourth Street, River Street and Sixth Avenue East and West. Since this policy was adopted in 2007, there has only been one parking ban, since the restrictions are for significant snow events only.

3) Property owners are responsible for removal of snow from their sidewalks. The City’s official snow policy requires that residents clear a path for pedestrians, mail carriers and delivery persons. This policy is based on voluntary compliance.

Residents are encouraged to review information on the City website or contact the Public Works department at 953-4900.
