A man was arrested early Saturday morning after driving his pickup truck through a red light and past a police car.
A Prince Albert Police supervisor patrol vehicle was stopped near a red light on 15th Street and Second Avenue West at 2 a.m. when a pickup truck in the adjoining lane crossed the intersection through a red light.
Both vehicles were travelling eastbound at the time. The police car immediately activated emergency equipment and followed the truck as it accelerated to roughly 80 km/h.
The suspect vehicle came to a stop after about five blocks and the driver was immediately arrested for disobeying a red light and failing to stop for police. Officers noted signs of alcohol intoxication, later confirmed by a breath test.
A 24-year-old Buffalo Narrows man is charged with impaired driving, exceeding .08 and fail to stop for police. He was released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to make his initial appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 1:30 p.m.
