Alerted by a noise, a 17-year-old male prevented three intruders from stealing a laptop computer from his residence on Monday afternoon.

The teenager was at home alone when he heard a sound. Upon investigation, he found that three strangers had entered the dwelling through an unlocked front door. Two females stood by the door while a male tried to remove the laptop.

After a brief struggle, the intruders fled the area empty-handed and police were dispatched to the 600 block of Eastwood Street at 4:36 p.m. No injuries were reported.

The suspects are described as “young Caucasians” and an investigation is ongoing. Police remind citizens to make sure that doors and windows of residences are locked and secure whenever feasible.
