A man who allegedly threatened a woman with a knife and dragged her towards an alley was scared off by a male passerby.

An 18-year-old female reported that she was walking in the 2700 block of Sixth Avenue East last Wednesday afternoon when she was approached by an unknown male who asked her name. When she did not respond, he allegedly held out a knife and dragged her towards an alley.

Another man, who appeared familiar to the complainant, noticed the situation while walking by and intervened, frightening the assailant away.

Police responded at 4:11 p.m. to a complaint of an armed disturbance. No injuries were reported.

The attempted assailant is described as a six-foot-tall Aboriginal male, but no further description is available. Police are seeking the Good Samaritan who stepped in to provide additional details that might identify the suspect.

Anyone with further information on the incident is asked to call Prince Albert Police or Crime Stoppers.
