Woman struck from behind, robbed

A woman was allegedly attacked from behind and robbed on Thursday in the 200 block of 32nd Street West.

Police responded at approximately 8:23 p.m. to a robbery complaint from a 48-year-old woman. She had been walking in the area when she was reportedly attacked by unknown assailants, struck in the head and knocked to the ground.

The woman’s purse and shopping bags were stolen. They contained her identification, cash, prescription medication and newly purchased clothing.

Paramedics took the victim to the Victoria Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries and released.

No description of her attackers is available, although they may have been wearing dark clothing. Anyone with information related to the crime is encouraged to call police at 953-4222 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
