Man charged in downtown knife fight

A fight between two men on Tuesday led to the arrest of a man for allegedly using a knife.

Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of Central Avenue at 3:23 p.m. after receiving a complaint of two men fighting, including one possibly armed with a knife.

Witnesses guided officers to the area of First Avenue and 9th Street East, where a 44-year-old Saskatoon man was arrested. Immediately before police contact, the arresting officer saw the man toss a knife to the curb.

The suspect has been remanded in custody and will make his next appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Wednesday. No injuries were reported from the incident.

Wilfred James Ross of Saskatoon is charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace.
