A house in the 400 block of Seventh Street East went up in flames on Thursday evening around 7:20 p.m. No one was inside the building at the time, said David Horan, who lives right next door.

Horan said a friend pointed out the flames to him, so he called 911. He then began to hose down the side of the house in an attempt to protect his own home from the flames. Horan also said he kicked in the front door. "Flames came out and singed my hair," Horan said. The fire brigade was on the scene within minutes, putting out the flames. The windows and doors of the house had been covered by plywood and it appears to have been a condemned building.

"Flames came out and singed my hair," Horan said. -
