A police search of a suspect following a break and enter at a local business recovered $400 in stolen property.

Just after midnight last Thursday, police responding to a break and enter in the 100 block of 16th Street West noticed a suspicious individual fleeing the area. The man matched a description provided by an eyewitness.

When police attempted to make contact, the man fled the area, leading to a brief foot chase. He was eventually taken into custody in the Unit Block of 17th Street West.

A search following the arrest revealed the 19-year-old suspect possessed articles stolen from the business. A window had been broken to gain entry and several items were stolen.

The suspect was later released on a recognizance and is scheduled to make his first appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Sept. 27 at 1:30 p.m.
