A 47-year-old male distracted by his cell phone on Friday evening was hit by a motor vehicle at the intersection of 34th Street and Second Avenue West.

Prince Albert police and paramedics responded at 8:10 p.m. after the man attempted to cross the street in front of a northbound vehicle. The man was treated and transported to the Victoria Hospital but soon released with only minor injuries.

A police spokesperson indicated that the driver of the vehicle saw the man and attempted to slow down, but the man’s path took him directly in front, making a collision unavoidable.

The driver has not been charged, since investigation revealed he was legally operating his vehicle while passing through a green light.
