Prince Albert residents certainly can’t say they have nothing to do on this long weekend.

The 129th edition of the Prince Albert Summer Fair finishes up on Saturday with a bang. At 11 p.m., a fireworks display will light up the area over the Exhibition Grounds.

It will be preceded by a concert featuring Donnie Parenteau and Friends, which takes place at 7:30 p.m. at the Grandstand.

Livestock events begin at 8 a.m. with the midway opening at noon and special shows like the Bowmanville Zoo – Extreme Wild, Safari Jeff The Living Wild Tour 2012 and the Yves Milord High Dive show staggered throughout the afternoon.

The midway and food vendors will be open until midnight.

You’ll also have a chance to fill up on ice cream over the weekend on Sunday afternoon at the Ice Cream Social, which is being held on the south side of the riverbank from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

For just a quarter a scoop, you can sample some of the prices of 1912 while listening to oldies.

The final really sweet event takes place Sunday at the Prince Albert Airport.

The Prince Albert Centennial of Flight Airshow has its gates open at 10 a.m.

Live entertainment, vendors and displays will be taking place throughout the day, and the show gets underway at 1 p.m.

It all wraps up at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
