The sun is shining and the snow is waiting at Prince Albert National Park this weekend.  The Glide & Stomp Weekend event will be happening all day Saturday and Sunday, Feb 11 and 12.
This massive and majestic park straddles the geographical line between the grasslands of Saskatchewan’s south and the boreal forest of the north. It spans nearly 4000 square km.
During the Glide and Stomp event there will be guided snowshoe hikes on both mornings. The Waskesiu Main Beach Warming shelter will be the meeting place for all those interested in joining in the festivities.

Topics :
Hawood Inn , PA Ski Club

On Saturday evening thirsty throats will migrate from the cold towards the warm confines of Hawood Inn for a pub night, held from 5p.m. till 10p.m. Sip on an toasty Irish coffee or a smooth whiskey to warm your innards after stomping around in the bush all day.

PA Ski Club will hold a waxing clinic on Sunday morning at 10a.m., where you can bring your gear and make is shiny and slick in the company of other outdoor enthusiasts. A lunchtime meal of chili, hot dogs and hot chocolate will be available to wrap up the day.

If you prefer to take to the trails on your own that is also very welcome. There are 95 km of ski-trail across 11 different trails to explore solo or in good company. There are also five trails designated just for snowshoeing. There are many things to do within the park, including cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing, skating or wildlife watching and even disc golf.

For those that do not have their own gear, there are snowshoes available free-of-charge at the Visitor’s Centre. Quantities are limited however, so come early to find yourself some gear.

The winter discount for the park entrance fee is still in effect, at 20 per cent off. Individual passes are $7.80 per day and $31.40 per year. There is also a family rate for 2-7 people for $19.60 per day and $78.50 per year.

For more information about this weekend’s activities call 1-306-663-4522.
