More than 280 motorists were ticketed by law enforcement during last week’s Operation Hang Up Buckle Up.

The traffic safety blitz was held across the province on March 14 and 15, with its focus being on cellphone use while driving and improper or non-seatbelt use.

Cellphone and seatbelt violations accounted for more than half of the total tickets issued, with 185 administered. Of the 282 total tickets issued, 84 were for cellphone violations and 101 were for seatbelt violations.

In February, the Operations Crossroads blitz that targets traffic safety at intersections resulted in 422 tickets province-wide.
