PRINCE ALBERT -

West Flat residents will have a familiar face knocking at their door by September.
Former mayor Jim Stiglitz will run in Ward 1 for city council during the Oct. 28 civic election.
Coun. Darcy Gervais has held the spot for the last nine years.
Stiglitz, who was beaten by Jim Scarrow in 2006 for the mayor's job by more than 4,300 votes, bought a house in the West Flat more than a year ago and decided it was time to run for office again shortly after the move.
"It can be good to view City Hall from the outside and take time off to have a different viewpoint," said Stiglitz, who added he felt "rejuvenated."

I just moved to PA a couple years ago, so I missed out on most of Stigliz's mayorship - although I did see him looking pretty blitzed on a Donny Parenteau video set at Belly Up. But I was here for the provincial election and I know that there was a Jim Stiglitz listed as being the campaign manager for the SaskParty guy, Kevin Shiach - Can anyone tell if this is the same Jim Stigliz? Shiach was so far behind the NDP guy, he couldn't have had a very effective campaign.

We need good men like Jim who aren't afraid to stand up to bullies like Scarrow. Hopefully Scarrow will be gone anyway.

Jim's lived in the West Flat for ONE whole year and he thinks he can represent Ward 1?? Give me a break! I sure hope someone who has spent more than one year in Ward 1 decides to run. Jim was a terrible mayor and this is not the kind of representation that Ward 1 needs!

Why only council Jim ? I don't remember the last time we had a mayor that actually did everything they said they would on their platform . You aren't in my ward but you definitly still have my support and that of soooo many more. Not that councillor Gervais is a bad one to have but I defintily think that someone that has sat in the mayors chair and has the insight from that perspective ,(and someone who will show up at more council meetings ) ,will be a better thing . Steve ..... low blow , sounds like you might have experienced the breathalizer firsthand . And Charlie ... your name would be new , step up to the plate if you want to complain.

Good luck Jim, but be careful as I heard that the PAPD has a new breathalyzer.
