A smaller than expected shipment of swine flu vaccine has forced health officials in Saskatchewan to restrict who will be able to be vaccinated in the coming days.

Dr. Moira McKinnon, the province's chief medical health officer, says starting next week, they will limit vaccinations to pregnant women and children between six months and just under five years of age.

A smaller than expected shipment of swine flu vaccine has forced health officials in

Sask

atchewan to restrict who will be able to be vaccinated in the coming days.

Dr. Moira McKinnon, the province's chief medical health officer, says starting next week, they will limit vaccinations to pregnant women and children between six months and just under five years of age.

She says while the province expected a second allotment of about 140,000 doses of swine flu vaccine, they've only received about 60,000.

McKinnon says data from across Canada and the United States suggests the illness is hitting pregnant women and young children especially hard, and that's why they've chosen to target these groups first.

Health officials will likely decide next week which groups should be next in line.

The province began efforts to vaccinate about 40,000 health-care workers this week and McKinnon says between 80 and 90 per cent are opting to get the shot.

Health official's already know who is going to be next in line to get there shot. But don't be suprised if some age groups have to wait until the end of november to get there's.
People have already Died from this flu but you could almost guaranteed that all Goverment officials and Goverment employee's have already been given theirs

hey wilma, firstly the vaccine is grown in eggs that where the egg allergy thing falls in, no different then any past seasonal flu shot, it is also made the same way as the seasonal flu shot only with a different virus. secondly it is tested on humans u idiot! who the hell do you think they test it on? its fda approved which means it has gone through and passed required testing, its also been available in other countries for weeks and has been given out here for the last week with no serious interactions. and lastly you cant get the flu from a flu shot with an inactive virus! thats a complete myth, the headache or fever or side effects you get from the shot are from the vaccine not cause it gives you the flu, you get the same chance of side effects from all the child vaccines like polio, doesnt mean it gives you polio! read a book or an article maybe get some facts, and as far as first nations comments go you should be ashamed of yourself! this effects everyone!!! in the world of all races, but way to go at once again turning a non race story into one! pathetic!

Impressive!!!!!! the government amazes me, it is so important to get this shot but of course they lag in getting us the vaccine, if it was their bonus cheque they would be sure to have them arrive on time.. and in their pockets.

The flu shot is for everyone not just First Nations!!!!!! WE ALL take a risk when we get that flu shot, it is not targeted to hurt a specific group, SHAME ON YOU FOR EVEN SAYING FIRST NATIONS SHOULD BE SCARED, THATS CRAP.

    Oh Yes!
The government people would have gotten their shots; they would be the first in line.

All the important service workers, such as the police, fire employees and service sectors that work closely with the people.

Clinics should be set up in the schools for the children? First.

But I heard that the medicine was made with protein from chicken eggs.

    Is this true?

I got a flu shot last year, but you still get a flu like symptoms.

Will this shot really save lives?
It was not tested no humans......

We the First Nations really should be scared..... They want us to not know the real effects and warnings!

Government really spent a lot on advertising, but not making the warnings clear in their campaign.

Two thumbs up to Sask Health. This pandemic will have come and gone before the general public gets vaccinated. Bet the Sask Party won't have to wait for their shots!

Come on you bunch of bumbasses do you really think the government (sk health) wouldn't have gotten enough of the vaccine if they could have ? Give me a break , it's a supply and demand issue not a lack of ordering issue. You don't think the drug companies are sending more to the USA then to here ? They send it to where the $$$$ is biggest.
