E.A. Rawlinson Centre

The Broadway North Summer Intensive Performing Arts Camp is back from Aug. 11-15 at the E. A. Rawlinson Centre.  

The Junior Program is a half-day program for children six to eight years of age and includes classes in singing dancing and children’s theatre. It runs from 9 a.m. to noon.

Full day programs (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) are available for The Inter Class (ages nine to 12) and the Senior Class (Ages 13 and up).  This full day classes include: Singing Technique and Music Repertoire, Monologue, Scene Study and Improvisation techniques and Dance for Musical Theatre and Choreography.

Each day a master class featuring a different specialty will be presented.   A performance on the main stage featuring all classes ends the week on Friday afternoon.

The faculty for this program includes Gillian McCaffery, a well-respected dance teacher. She has over 20 years teaching experience in Saskatchewan and Ontario. 

Gillian directs and choreographs for the Broadway North Theatre Company and has more than 30 musicals and plays to her credit. In addition to her Teacher’s Diploma from the Royal Academy of Dance, Gillian has availed herself to classes from the top industry leaders in dance and theatre.

Karen Langlois achieved her Bachelor of Music degree with Great Distinction in Vocal Performance from the University of Saskatchewan.  She has a private voice, piano, theory and history studio with over 50 students several of whom have received silver medals from the Royal Conservatory of Music. 

Karen loves musical theatre and has many performances to her credit. She has been the musical director for many Broadway North musical productions.

Roxanne Dicke has been a director and theatre educator for 16 years. She has extensive credits for directing as well as for collectives and acting roles, she is the current Artistic Direct for Odyssey Productions, teaches theatre for First Nations University and for the University of Saskatchewan.

Roxanne holds a Master’s Degree in Drama and a Master’s Degree in Teaching. She has vast experience as a department head, director and acting instructor in both Canada and Jamaica.

Darren McCaffery was a professional actor in Toronto.  His credits include a lead role in Miss Saigon, the Canadian touring company of Les Miserable and the world premiere cast of Napoleon. 

Darren has performed and directed in Broadway North productions and has spent the last 18 years dedicated to developing the performing arts in Prince Albert. He is currently the general manager at the E. A. Rawlinson Centre.
