REGINA -
Officials say a new non-pandemic influenza A virus has been confirmed in two hog farm workers in eastern Saskatchewan and a third case is being investigated.
The workers have fully recovered.
Public health, agriculture and food safety agencies say they are working together to better understand the implications of the new virus.
Health experts believe the strain responds to the current seasonal flu vaccine and they are inoculating workers on the affected hog farm.
They say these kinds of viruses are not easily transmitted between humans, and there is no evidence that this one has passed between people.
Saskatchewan's chief veterinarian says there is no sign that pigs have been infected by the new flu.
