Toys Toys Toys
My wife and I decided we had waited long enough and went out into the community to try and catch-up on some of our Christmas shopping. Was I in for a surprise.
Perhaps it's been a few years since I had to buy kids toys, as mine have all grown up (not the toys, the kids :0) But my grandkids are now at the age where I really enjoy shopping for them. I had grand ideas of what I might look for and how much I wanted to spend. Then reality slapped me in the face.
First, all my favourite stores were either not selling toys anymore or the stores were completely gone. Second, when I did find someplace that was selling "Old Time Toys" I was going to have to sell some of my own toys in order to afford to buy some.
Then I discovered, everything needs batteries...and not just one or two but 3 or 4 are required to make most of these things operate. Which, of course, only adds to the exspence of the gifts.
Now I'm really beginning to understand why alot of folks are "re-gifting". A phrase that has only begun to get really popular over the last few years. Looks like we may have come full-circle once again and grandpa may be building toys before to long.
Now don't get me wrong, I am not saying that its all bad. As far as I'm concerned, we need to step back abit and have a good look at why we are celebrating the season to begin with. Many folks have begun to called it "The Season" but seem to have forgotten what that season is.
You can celebrate "The Season" however you like, it is a free country but never forget, the season is to celebrate the birth of Christ (CHRISTmas). So if your not celebrating CHRISTmas don't give us that are, such a bad time or insist we call it something it's not. We are sharing it with you, aren't we.
From my family to yours,
Have a Very Merry Christmas and a healthy and prosperious New Year.
